I am going to try and type out everything that she wrote, but I must admit I am horrible at reading writing sometimes. I hope I catch everything:
Dear Robert, I hope that you like this postcard. It shows a typical house in the southern part of Germany. In the (don't know what it says) we have winter and important 5th season (as we say in German) We have Fasching=carnival. This is a time we've a lot fo people dress up, have a lot of fun and visit long (??) Do you have carnival in the states? This season ends with Ash Wednesday. I'm going to watch the most important parades on TV on Monday. Normally I don't like this season to much, My children enjoy it much. Many greetings from Steltgast and happy postcrossing. S-
If you are reading this, let me tell you that here in San Diego, we do not have the parades and carnivals; however, there are places (especially in Louisiana) that has huge Mardi Gras celebrations full of parades and carnivals before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday; thought the celebration lasts much longer than just that Tuesday.
How about you other American citizens? Do you celebrate Mardi Gras time? Anyone else around the world?
I don't particularly enjoy these celebrations because I'm not one for loud places (I get very disoriented so I stay away as much as possible). But I know many people enjoy these times.
Oh, I also wanted to add that, after I sent her a thank you, she sent us this message:
